  Took my wife’s 2009 Volvo XC70 to Archibalds 6 months back for service and the quote was detailed and spot on. As playing a poor man you do think maybe I should go somewhere else for maybe a hundy or two cheaper. But you know its best to take to someone who really knows the car and has all the skills, tools and software to do a proper job. Maybe in 1997 you could go somewhere else but not these days. Modern cars need the specialists.
  Archibald’s did a great job with great service! They changed the language from Japanese to English on the dash and the radio which was and is brilliant. It costs $300. I think they have to pay a chunk for it to be licensed to them from Volvo. I tried so many other ways prior with other people to do this and wasted so much time from failing. Just wished the bloody importer in Auckland did this for me.
  I have a Porsche 2005 Cayenne. I needed a WOF and I checked the seats and the bloody middle back seat belt was jammed. The only way to un jam it was to undo a bolt at the bottom that needs a m10 XCn tripple square socket. I tried with not quite the right socket and dethreaded the bolt. Dam so I went in and the mechanic was super cool and got that bolt out and replaced it with a classic hexangle one incase I needed to undo it again for no fee. Took him a wee while to unthread it to. I do think the Porsche team is looking forward to their new building being completed very soon. And everyone is looking forward to the never ending road works outside to be completed. They employ many mechanics so you can imagine if one guy gets stuck with a query he has many others to ask….. So even though they may charge a little more maybe then some others they will be much quicker and efficient.
  Update: Just had to take my wife’s car in for an earth lead replacement. It was totally corroded. You think I can easily do it myself. And yes I could in 1997. But had a vibe once a modern car is disconnected and then reconnected the electronics may need to be reset and it did. Archibald’s did a brilliant simple job and it was cheaper than what they quoted. Only half hour labor fee. Now that is honesty. My wife’s car was super dirty and came back nice and clean. A packet of luxury fudge. Got a loan car for the day. And great service. You need to take your Volvo, Porsche, Audi, Landrover and jaguar to these guys to get the proper care your precious adorable car needs.
